One of them disliked my questions about No. 5 extrait and turned her back on me my while I was talking! She never turned around to help me again. She had been snooty on a couple other occasions, but this was outrageous! I would organize a boycott except that I want about half of the line now, so I guess I’m at their mercy.

True, I think I may have oversimplified my point. It's moreso that it feels like No. 5 is putting forward this idea that synthetics can be both noticeable (since from what I've read, other fragrances at the time did use aliphatic aldehydes in much lighter doses) and a lot less friendly than vanillin & coumarin, and still beautiful.
